Chanry Im

Chief of Party, PMI Evolve Project, Cambodia

Bio

Chanry Im has more than 10 years of experience directing monitoring and evaluation and technical assistance for national health programs in Cambodia, working with government stakeholders from the peripheral, sub-national, and national levels. Trained as an epidemiologist, he also has experience in health management information systems (HMIS). His technical support to the Cambodian national tuberculosis (TB) program transformed the management of TB patient’s health data from a paper-based to web-based system for real-time data collection. His current focus includes working with the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology, and Malaria Control, the University of Puthisastra, and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI).

Im currently serves as chief of party (COP) for PMI’s Evolving Vector Control to Fight Malaria Project (PMI Evolve) in Cambodia. He provides overall strategic direction, operations management, technical leadership, and financial and administrative compliance for all project activities to ensure they meet desired outcomes on time and within budget. He plays a key role in coordinating with the national malaria program and oversees the project’s entomological monitoring activities for integrated vector control. He guides key project and country-level vector control decisions based on data analysis and interpretation.

Before joining Abt on the Health Information Policy and Advocacy (HIPA) project, Im held positions ranging from TB information system advisor to deputy COP and COP for Palladium. Im has also had a central role with Cambodia’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STD as senior technical advisor for strategic information under the FHI 360-led and U.S. Agency for International Development-funded The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project.
