The Climate Leadership Conference (CLC) and Awards (CLAs), hosted by The Climate Registry, were launched in 2011 to continue the legacy of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders program, which recognized companies for setting and achieving greenhouse gas reduction goals from 2002 to 2011.

For more than 40 years, Abt has supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in developing, implementing, and evaluating its programs and policies on a wide variety of topics including environmental justice, climate change, water quality and toxics, and resource conservation. Abt has a proven record of supporting EPA in designing and implementing partnership programs with industry, supporting businesses in going beyond regulatory requirements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We apply ambitious climate solutions to our internal operations and are committed to aggressively reducing our absolute greenhouse gas emissions and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Both of Abt’s targets are approved by the Science Based Target initiative, and in line with the Paris Agreement. We are also the first recipients of an industry-leading sustainability certification for professional services firms.

At #TheCLC, we were proud to receive the 2024 Climate Leadership Award in the Organizational Leadership category for demonstrating exemplary leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change across our operations and strategies.

Panel: Integrating Data Verification into Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure

Verification and assurance has become more prominent as stakeholders increasingly demand higher degrees of confidence and reliability in sustainability reporting and disclosures. With the introduction of mandatory climate disclosures that require assurance – such as in California with SB 253 – the demand for these services will only further increase. Through the lens of both assurance providers and reporting organizations, this workshop will delve into the various trends, benefits, and challenges associated with verification and assurance, including workforce development and capacity building, approaches to Scope 3 emissions, and similarities and differences among governing standards, among others.

Date/Time: Tuesday, May 21st from 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Speakers:

  • Charles Pope, Research and Development Director, The Climate Registry (Moderator)
  • Jessica Stavole, Manager of Sustainability & Voluntary Carbon Markets, TÜV SÜD America – Ruby Canyon Services (Panelist)
  • Emily Berger, Director, Financial Services, PKF O'Connor Davies (Panelist)
  • Kim Stama, Sustainability Manager, Abt Global (Panelist)
